From Our Program Directors

At Upstate Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship, you’ll find the creative and comfortable learning atmosphere you have been hoping for. Located in Syracuse, NY, our program has been shaping minds and refining skills since 1988.  We have graduated 30 fellows to date. We are privileged to teach students and residents from various departments.  Our commitment to excellence and our state-of-the-art facilities make the Upstate Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship a rewarding experience, one that will last many years after graduation.

Our Emergency Department

  • Vast catchment area that includes 14 surrounding counties, spanning from the Canadian boarder to northern Pennsylvania

  • Level 1 pediatric trauma center and pediatric burn center

  • 24 comprehensive exam rooms

  • Additional fast track area with 10 private exam rooms

  • Located in a separate unit from the adult ED

  • Greater than 30,000 visits annually

  • Designated pediatric trained nurses

  • All medical and surgical subspecialties on site

  • Child life specialists available, including peak hours with dedicated ED child life coverage

  • Diverse urban, suburban, and rural patient population, including unique populations such as Amish and refugee patients
